Part 1: How A President Trump Deliberately: Caused the Border Crisis, Destroyed Latin American Economies, Sabotaged the Immigration Courts, and Failed at Securing the Border

Updated: Oct 16

What Did a Xenophobic Racist Donald Trump do With the Full Power of America?

Donald Trump spent almost every waking moment enraged in seething hatred for Latin American: Hispanic, and Latino, Black, and Brown people. It seemed as if everyday he discovered a new and more cruel and inhumane way to attack, hurt, and punish them.

The US had supposedly asked for language asking governments to “protect, promote, and support breastfeeding” to be removed.

2019, Trump Breaks ALL Illegal Immigration and Border Crossing Records

2019 Border Failure Admissions by Trump:

An Overwhelming Surge in Illegal Immigration is Worsening the Crisis at the Border April 5, 2019

OVERWHELMING SURGE AT THE BORDER: President Donald J. Trump has warned repeatedly that our border is being overwhelmed and, as the numbers show, that is exactly what is happening.

United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) engaged in more than 100,000 border enforcement actions in March – the most for one month in more than a decade.

Total enforcement actions were 516 percent higher than in March 2017.

Border Patrol apprehensions for this fiscal year, through March, have exceeded the entire fiscal year totals for 2017, 2015, 2012, and 2011.

Border Patrol apprehensions increased 38 percent from February to March.

Border Patrol apprehensions dipped last month, but 2019 saw a dramatic increase from 2018

2019-2021, As Punishment, Trump Uses His Presidency to Destroy the Economies of Several Countries in Central and South America and Personally Causing One of the Worst Humanitarian Crises in History

Feb 1, 2019 Just last week, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence issued a video message of support to Venezuelans to encourage those who were protesting the Maduro regime and expressed the U.S.’s support for Guaidó. On Monday the administration announced it would be sanctioning Venezuela’s state-owned oil company, PDVSA, blocking $7 billion in assets and potentially costing the country $11 billion in oil revenues. These latest efforts aimed to corner Maduro and force him to step down.

For the second summer in a row, the Trump administration appears poised to use a relatively obscure budget process known as "rescission" to take back U.S. development funding that lawmakers have already approved.

US officials, including President Donald Trump, have embraced Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández as a "valued and proven partner" for addressing crime and immigration.

That praise has come despite mounting evidence tying Hernandez to international drug trafficking and corruption, the same kind of allegations for which the US has condemned other Latin American leaders.

A sordid story told in remarkable new reporting from the Center for Investigative Reporting’s Reveal illustrates the often twisted through-threads in President Donald Trump’s transactional and egocentric approach to U.S. foreign policy. In this case, the threads connect the expulsion from Guatemala of a highly effective U.N.-backed anti-corruption prosecutor, the decision to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, the migrant crisis on the U.S. southern border, and immunity for crooked Russian timber tycoons.

The economies of Latin America contracted by 7.7 percent in 2020, the largest contraction on earth in the COVID-19 era and the largest in the region in 120 years. The region has experienced half a million deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic, also the most in the world and has slowest growth projected for 2021.

Trump's constant sanctions on Latin American Countries, especially during the Pandemic completely crippled and decimated them. Trump's relentless merciless cruelty, directly killed tens of thousands of poor people.

Migrants and displaced people from across the world are arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border in droves. More than half come from six Latin American countries, where worsening violence, poverty, and other factors are pushing them to leave.

The dynamics and scale of migration in and throughout the Americas have changed since the COVID-19 pandemic. Millions of migrants and displaced people are arriving every year to the U.S.-Mexico border, hailing not just from Mexico and northern Central America, but also from countries further south and from across the globe.

In July and August 2020, the Washington Office on Latin America examined the Trump administration’s impact in Latin America in a four-part event series that brought together experts from across the region. As activists, academics, and other prominent civil society voices took stock of the Trump administration’s disastrous legacy, the conversations underscored the severe damage wrought and the long-lasting consequences that could result.

But in assessing the consequences of nearly four years of failed U.S. Latin American policy and human rights leadership

How Trump Sabotaged and Broke the Immigration Court

When President Donald Trump assumed office, 542,411 people had deportation cases pending before the Immigration Courts. At the start of 2021, that number now stands at 1,290,766—nearly two and a half times the level when Trump assumed office just four years ago. Waiting in the wings are another 300,000+ cases that President Trump's policy changes have decided aren't finally resolved, but have not yet been placed back on the active docket

In just four years, the Trump administration implemented radical changes that fundamentally compromised the integrity of the immigration courts and their ability to ensure fairness and impartiality. The administration pressured judges to render decisions at a break-neck pace at the cost of accuracy, while stripping them of their ability to control their dockets. EOIR policies—including hiring practices, docket interference, and attempts to terminate the immigration judges’ union—politicized the immigration courts more than ever before.

Through hundreds of policies, including those listed below, the Attorney General and the Executive Officer for Immigration Review (EOIR) transformed the immigration courts into an enforcement agency rather than a fair and neutral arbiter.
